GM and praise the Lord for His grace and mercy! Meditate on this scripture today:

Psalm 4:8

"I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety."

How did you sleep last night? When most people are asked this question, the answers are varied and often totally unexpected. But you rarely hear someone say "perfect!" That's because it's not about the mattress or pillows but about what's going on in your heart and mind when you lie down. The issues of the day are with you and the uncertainties of tomorrow are always before you. Many find themselves staying awake late into the night thinking, planning, anxious about what will be, until they become "insanely" sleepy and eventually "pass out." However, that only serves to make you "insanely irritable" from lack of proper rest. Others resort to sleep "inducers" to help with their inability to "relax" only to later find themselves "dependent" upon such means but never achieving "true rest." (Some of us remember "Sominex"). One very relevant example is that of a well known prominent entertainer who just several years ago, died in their sleep from a wrongfully applied sleep inducer. The report stated that they demanded it in order to achieve total rest. The need for peaceful, safe and total restful sleep is very real but sadly to say, most look for it in all the wrong places.

Don't let that be your testimony. Rather, go for the ONLY REMEDY for insomnia, the only source of total rest - Jesus Christ. How? By giving Him all your worries and cares "before" you lie down for sleep!! Don't sit on your bed and moan and grumble and become agitated to the point of not being able to rest. Give it all to God in prayer. There is a famous godly hymn which sums this up so nicely:

"What a friend we have in Jesus

All our sins and griefs to bear

What a privilege to carry

Everything to God in prayer

O what peace we often forfeit

O what needless pain we bear

All because we do not carry

Everything to God in prayer!"

Jesus is there for you! But you must take His remedy with something else - TRUST. Once you carry it to God, leave it with Him!" Don't take it back. Allow Him to carry it and handle it. Also, don't give it to the Lord and then try to figure out how He's going to fix it - simply trust Him in His wisdom, His love, and His power to handle anything we give Him!! God does not need your help - He looks for your faith!! God allows us to go through various situations in order to teach us to hand them over to Him. Humbly recognize your inability and make up your mind to trust the Lord with everything and give your brain a rest!!

So start expecting a good nights sleep, by taking the only cure for true peaceful rest - Jesus!

Be blessed and have a safe, peaceful rest in God!!
